Dawson and Williams had a little glitch on the highway of life, quite literally. On May 27th CA Dawson and her publisher Gord Williams were involved in a near death experience on the Coquihalla Highway near Merritt, B.C.

Dawson was in the driver's seat, Williams was the passenger. They were stopped at the scene of another accident when the car they were in was rear-ended by a semi that failed to stop!

After the dust settled (and the car they were in stopped flying through the air) they were eventually cut out of the car by Firefighters from Merritt using the Jaws of Life.

Yehhhh for advanced technology even if it isn't of alien extraction. (ESPECIALLY since it is isn't of alien extraction!) Yehhhh for the Firefighters of Merritt (and all the other life savers on the road that day.

Dawson was air-lifted to Royal Inlands Hospital in Kamloops. Williams took his jolly time getting there by more antiquated land based means but both are making what they hope will be a full recovery.

Numerous planned appearances were cancelled while Dawson lolly-gagged around, (sleeping mostly) over the course of the summer.

"What summer?" Dawson asks. "Was there a summer?"

"Well there was and you would have seen it if you hadn't been asleep all the time."

So, Vancouver was cancelled. And the World Con was cancelled but the good news is Necronomicon is full steam ahead!

We'll see you at Necronomicon on October 21.

Back from Leprecon: on to Star Trek in Vancouver

Phoenix was wonderful. The convention was awesome! People were friendly. The panels were informative. Scratch that. Incredibly informative! Special Thanks to Catherine Book, Mike Willmoth and all the volunteers for the massive effort they put into making the con a great experience.

We had a wonderful time at Leprecon. We learned a lot; met some great people including John Picacio and Diana Gabaldon; and more great people like Scott Dennis and Susan and Gary and the list goes on.

Now we're getting ready for the Star Trek Convention in Vancouver. The big news is that Barb Wright will be joining us there. Barb is a Wow Bang internet savvy lady who loves science fiction; loves Star Trek and enjoys gaming.

Barb is a communication specialist working with Babora Books on ways of promoting the books BB publishes.

See you in Vancouver June 10-12 at the Babora Books table in the Dealers Room.

Readings and Panels and all Good Things

Leprecon in Phoenix is fast approaching!

C.A. is doing a reading on Friday night - 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm  from Cacin in the Boardroom.

She's chosen a couple of action oriented spots to read from, so don't miss this event. She's reportedly a great reader, lots of feeling and even some theatrics thrown in for entertainment value.

Then there'll be an autographing session in the Dealers room right after the reading. See you there from 6:30 - 7:30.

Look for her on the Future of Publishing Panel on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 in the Palm E room.

Then, following that she's on the What Universe Are You In panel on Saturday from 11:00 - 12:00 in the Xavier room.

It should be interesting to see what Universe C.A. actually lives in!

We went ... we saw ... and WOW. Emerald City Comicon

We didn't know what to expect in Seattle March 4-6 but the Seattle Convention Center was full to bursting. There was lots of positive energy; great panels and the Dealer's Room was huge.

I definately recommend this con but especially to anyone who's into graphic novels and comic books.

Keep checking here for pics. I'll try to get a couple up later this week.
